Earth Week: Drawdown Solutions

As the adage goes – How do you embark on a new journey? By taking the first step. The same is true for climate change. The challenge is that the problem often feels daunting and too big to solve in light of all the other issues facing humanity, particularly now with the pandemic.

The book “Drawdown,” published in 2017 and updated in 2020, outlines actionable, affordable solutions available today and breaks them into 5 main sources of carbon:

  • Food
  • Industry
  • Transportation
  • Electricity
  • Buildings

By removing more greenhouse gases than we emit, we will “drawdown” and reverse the damaging effects of dangerous man-made greenhouse gases. AND the updated research shows we can dramatically change our current climate course by the year 2040 but we must act NOW. Excitingly, these solutions are not only available immediately, they are good for the environment, global economy, worldwide health and create a path to social justice.
