Speakers Bureau / Cynthia Linton
Bio:
Cynthia Linton is a retired journalist (community newspapers) and journalism instructor (Northwestern University). She learned about the global warming problem from the documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” (2006) and became active with the Sierra Club. As a grandmother of six, she felt obliged to do her part to spare her grandchildren and others from the worst impacts predicted for the future if nothing changes. She started a blog and a Twitter account (@climate_politix) to share developing news about climate change and its intersection with policy and politics. Her activism kicked into even higher gear when she retired and was trained by Al Gore and The Climate Reality Project in 2017. She now devotes a large portion of her time to continue educating herself and others about the causes, impacts and solutions to climate change. She co-directed a class on the subject last fall at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Northwestern and is planning another class based on solutions as identified in the book “Drawdown.”
A bit more: Cynthia is on the Sierra Club lobbying team. She traveled to Hudson’s Bay to see polar bears before they disappear. Her favorite trip was photographing animals in Africa.
