Bio:
Cynthia Linton was a founding member of the Chicago chapter and a former chair. She is now Communications Chair, with responsibility for the chapter’s publications and publicity, including the newsletter, Action Alerts, and social media. She is a retired journalist (community newspapers) and taught for two decades in Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism’s master’s program. While at Medill, she conducted several studies about diversity and journalism, and published “The Chicago Ethnic Handbook.” She learned about global warming from the documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” (2006) and became active with the local Sierra Club chapter. As a grandmother, she wanted to spare that generation from the worst impacts predicted for the future if little changes. Her activism kicked into high gear when she retired and was trained by Al Gore and The Climate Reality Project in 2017. She was educated at Smith College and Boston University, and lives in Chicago.
A bit more:
Cynthia went to Hudson’s Bay in northern Canada to see polar bears before they disappear. Her favorite trip was photographing animals in Africa.
